Cardiac Rehabilitation
Chadron Community Hospital’s Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation program provides individualized, medically supervised exercise and education for people with heart and lung disease. The program works with the individuals’ needs, abilities, and interests with the goal of returning him/her to peak physical and psychological health and function. The exercise and education program is provided in addition to, not as a replacement for, medical care provided by the person's own physician.

How Does it Work?
The Cardiac Rehabilitation staff will develop a personal program that is designed to meet your needs for exercise, nutrition counseling, and stress management.
After the initial evaluation, a plan is developed which includes cardiac monitored exercise sessions three times per week. The length of the program is based on your needs, but usually runs for 6-12 weeks.

OUTPATIENT PROGRAM
“Phase II”: Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation is provided on an outpatient basis. When people are recovering from heart attacks, pulmonary problems, or coping with chest pain or other heart and lung problems, it is very important that they begin the road back to health in a careful, supervised way under the watchful eye of a trained medical professional. Phase II is an outpatient program where the patient completes 24 to 36 exercise classes with intense monitoring by a Registered Nurse. If you have been diagnosed with a heart attack, chest pain, Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery, angioplasty, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, emphysema or asthma, or other heart or lung problems, this program may be a benefit for you. Your physician must refer you to the program. Ask your doctor if the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is right for you. “Phase II” is covered by Medicare.

MAINTENANCE PROGRAM
“Phase III”: In the maintenance program, clients come to the rehab center and exercise up to 3 times a week and may come for as long as they want. Exercise sessions are supervised by a Registered Nurse with the Physical Therapy Department providing exercise education, supervision and programs tailored to the client’s health needs. This program is available to the general public and does not require a referral from a doctor. There is a minimal cost of $50.00 for the first month of the service and a monthly cost of $33.00 after the first month. This program is not covered by most health insurance companies.
