People who have worked hard all their lives, who have planned for their
retirement years and who want the very best for them. A typical resident
may wish to be set free from the problems of home responsibilities,
maintenance, cooking, cleaning and yard work; to be set free from the
loneliness that can come from the living alone; to be set free from the
fear of an accident or health problem that cannot receive prompt
attention. Prairie Pines provides comfort, security and a fulfillment of
lifestyle.

Who is qualified to become
a resident at Prairie Pines?
A.
Prairie Pines
welcomes the lease of rental units for persons who are 62 years of age or
older. If it is a couple, on e of them must be at least 62 years of age,
and no permanent residents may be under the age of 21. Residents must be
in good health for their age. Since this is not a nursing facility, we
cannot accept those who need daily nursing care. Prairie Pines is a
retirement community for persons of retirement age who are ambulatory and
in good physical and mental health for their age. If help is needed with
such things as medication, dressing or bathing, it is provided to those in
the Assisted Living Units.

What is the main meal of
the day that is included in the apartment rent?

The evening meal.
Residents may choose from a varied menu, and the meal will be served in
the beautiful central dining room by the dietary staff. A continental
breakfast is available daily. The meal may be delivered on trays to your
apartment in case of short-term illness for a minimal fee. Guest meals
are also available at a reasonable cost. Assisted Living Units will have
three meals per day.

Why are Assisted Living
Units Different?

The Assisted Living
Units are designed primarily for residents who have need of some personal
care, such as assistance in dressing, bathing, or medications and they are
provided all three meals in the dining room.

Are Pets permitted?
A.
Prairie Pines
welcomes pets. The size and nuisance factors will have to be taken
into consideration, and there will be an additional deposit for possible
pet damage.
Q.
How often will the
housekeepers come to my apartment?
A.
Housekeeping of your
apartment is done on a weekly basis. This includes vacuuming and cleaning
the kitchen and bath floors. Housekeeping of the hallways and all common
areas is also included. If additional personal housekeeping is desired
(moving furniture, cleaning closets, etc.), it is available at a nominal
cost.
Q. Which laundry services are
included in my monthly fee?
A.
Laundering of your
flat linens (your sheets, pillowcases, towels and kitchen linens) is
included in your monthly fee. This laundry service is done weekly,
including pickup and delivery. Coin-operated washers and dryers are
available for your personal use, or your personal laundry can be done for
you at a nominal cost.

Who pays for utility cost,
repairs and maintenance?
A.
All utilities, except
telephone and cable television are included. Each apartment has its own
individually controlled heating and air-conditioning. All maintenance is
provided for interior and exterior; including appliances, lawns,
landscaping, snow removal, mechanical systems, trash collection and pest
control.

What activities are
available?
A.
Social and leisure
activities are available for your participation. These activities are
tailored to the desires of the residents. There is a trained staff member
responsible for coordinating and planning these activities. The mini-van
will also be used occasionally for planned trips to nearby recreational,
educational and cultural events. The van will also have a scheduled route
to doctor’s offices, shopping centers, banks, etc. If transportation is
needed for an unscheduled trip, it will be available at a nominal fee.
Prairie Pines also has a Wellness Program and encourages all resident s to
participate.
