Our Services:
Rehabilitation Services of Chadron Community Hospital offers a wide variety of programs to meet our patients needs. Our department offers treatment related to back and neck injury/pain, injuries to the extremities, post-surgical problems, sports injuries, work injuries, female health problems, deconditioning, neurological problems related to ageing and a variety of other health issues. We also have aquatic therapy available. We recently started both outpatient and school-based pediatric therapy. All operations are based out of Chadron Community Hospital. We also have a satellite clinic in nearby Crawford, NE. Services are provided by physical and occupational therapists as well as through athletic training. Speech language pathology services are provided as needed through an arrangement with Regional West Medical Center of Scottsbluff, NE.

Our Physical Therapy program continues to provide care within the inpatient and outpatient environment. We also provide physical therapy to area nursing homes and in the patient's home through Home Health. Physical Therapist work with patients to help restore lost motion, strength, and functional mobility secondary to some form of injury, disease process or surgery. Physical therapist are trained in the use of therapeutic exercise, manual techniques and various treatment modalities to help achieve their treatment goals.

Our Occupational Therapy services includes a full-time occupational therapist. Occupational therapists work with people to help them achieve independence for activities of daily living. Treatments include home safety and work site evaluations, training and education in self-care and home management, adaptive and assistive technology recommendations as well as treatment of hand and upper extremity injuries including custom splinting.

Our Sports Medicine Program remains active within the community and surrounding region. We routinely provide coverage of high school sports practices and events. Evaluation and treatment of sports related injuries are also performed in the clinic. In addition, our staff works with Chadron State College when needed to help with the rehabilitation of injured athletes. We also routinely provide "sports medicine clinics" where athletes within the region can have a sports related injury evaluated. Anyone ranging from the organized competitive athlete to the "weekend warrior" is welcome to participate. Details pertaining to our "sports medicine clinics" can be obtained by contacting our office at 308-432-0232.

Our Pediatrics program includes both outpatient, medical model therapy and school-based, educational therapy. Out-patient therapy encompasses a spectrum of diagnoses, from orthopedic to neuromuscular to genetic in nature and is provided at the request of referring physicians. The focus in outpatient pediatric therapy is the child's medical condition and associated impairments. Here we work to help a child realize their full potential. Direct, one-on-one treatments are provided focusing on goals set forth in a plan of care. School-based , educational therapy is provided as a related service for special education under the Individuals with Disabilities in Education (IDEA) ruling. We have recently extended into school-based services and are hoping to continue with the recruitment of additional professional staff next fall.

Our Aquatic Program is housed at Motel 6 here in Chadron. This program is aimed at patients across the life span and throughout the continuum of medical diagnoses. Pool-based therapy can be used as a stand-alone treatment or to augment a land-based physical or occupational therapy program in the clinic. Aquatic therapy rarely involves true "swimming" as many may think. Rather, the aquatic setting is used to create a warm, humid, buoyant environment where patients are able to complete exercises often to difficult or painful on land.
