Position Summary:
The clinical educator works under the direct supervision of the Nursing Director. The clinical educator assesses, organizes and synthesizes data to develop a Plan of Care through the use of the nursing process and theoretical and experiential knowledge. The clinical educator utilizes critical thinking to plan and select appropriate education training to enhance patient outcomes. The clinical educator participates in the orientation of new employees.
Primary Job Duties:
The clinical educator is an experienced acute care registered nurse with innovative problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, effective leadership skills, current clinical skills, and expertise in a broad range of areas.
The clinical educator position works a flexible schedule to accommodate all shifts and is supportive of the primary care nursing staff.
The clinical educator works collaboratively with the nursing management team to ensure staff competency and supports staff when they are working on completing competency documentation.
The clinical educator oversees initial orientation of CCH nursing and support staff as well as required annual education, Relias.
The clinical educator provides care in a collaborative manner with nursing management, the clinical nursing coordinator and the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal, individualized patient care and outcomes while supporting change management as evidence practice is implemented.
The clinical educator teaches and manages the BLS program for CCH employees.
In collaboration with the nursing director, the clinical educator supports the CCH mission and vision by working within the community and local schools to promote education and address knowledge deficits.
This includes Health Professions Club, job shadows, clinicals, etc.
The clinical educator determines staff educational needs through coordination with nursing management, quality analyst, feedback from nursing staff and competency assessment.
The clinical educator oversees internships, job shadows, clinical education, the records for nursing clinical competencies and scheduling for required courses including but not limit to BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, TCAR, NRP, and STABLE.
Orientation of WC, ER Techs, CNA, LPN, RN and CRNAs. Along with other Clinical positions as needed – new MD’s, PAs, and NPs; mainly focusing on Cerner or our current EHR.
The clinical educator will assist as needed in review and development of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines for CCH.
The clinical educator performs other duties as assigned.
Take part in quality/safety/ infection control improvement initiatives projects by observing/reporting/engaging/resolving any concerns or issues.
Complete annual required Relias education
All of duties as assigned.
Education:
o Graduate of an accredited medical program.
o Current Medical license in the State of Nebraska without restrictions.
o Current BLS.
Current Medical License in the State of Nebraska without restrictions.
Experience:
Experience in the budgeting process and management techniques is essential. Should have a minimum of five years prior experience inpatient care services management. Should be able to demonstrate leadership, managerial ability, good interpersonal relationships and the application of sound administrative principles. Membership in professional organizations encouraged.
