Position Details:

Nurse Manager B

Full-time, Permanent, Hourly, Benefited position, shifts vary. 

Sign on bonus available for eligible candidates.

Position Summary: 

The Nurse Manager B manages and coordinates the clinical departments and also works cooperatively with the Nurse Manager A with activities on all the patient units in order to provide quality and continuity of patient care in collaboration with nursing leadership team; assist personnel to acquire skill, knowledge and positive attitudes; and evaluates and develops professional and personal growth of staff. Patients served at Chadron Community Hospital and Health Services (CCH) includes infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

Primary Job Duties: 

Nursing Managers will have primary duties assigned to them. However, it will be expected managers will cover for one another and the duties may flex between all levels of nursing leadership. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

    • Med/Surg
    • Occupational Health
    • Infection Control
    • Clinical Informatics & Education
    • Associated Regulatory and Reporting Responsibilities
  • Shared duties:
    • Scheduling – RN, LPN, WC, CNA, ER Tech
    • Staffing
    • Utilization Review
    • Staff Evaluations
    • Payroll
    • Nursing Call
  • Additional duties:
    • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the nursing units including but not limited to:
      • Continuity of care and safety of patients.
      • Environmental and equipment needs.
    • Contributes to a culture of safety for all patients, visitors, and staff by:
      • Ensuring accurate patient identification.
      • Monitoring physical environment for hazards.
      • Reporting potential or actual unexpected events.
  • Utilizes communication skills effectively when interacting with patients, families, staff, nursing director, and providers.
    • Acquires and disseminates pertinent information.
    • Interacts professionally as a liaison between patient, family, and providers.
    • Works closely with all hospital departments to ensure good intradepartmental relationships.
    • Identifies and works to prevent/resolve issues.
    • Positive representative of nursing and CCH in hospital and community settings.
    • Promotes a positive environment in which patient care team can work cooperatively.
  • Ensures that patient care is delivered in accordance with quality standards and CCH policies and procedures and is documented.
  • Keeps updated on all regulations pertaining to nursing and departments of Primary Duties. Regularly reviews and updates policies and procedures to ensure compliance and following best practice.
  • Works with nursing leadership.
  • Maintains and advances knowledge through training, conferences, workshops, seminars and/or in-services.
  • Participates in committees and meetings as assigned.
  • Take part in quality/safety/ infection control improvement initiatives projects by observing/reporting/engaging/resolving any concerns or issues.
  • Will be required to cover shifts as needed.
  • Call coverage with departments and nursing leadership will be required.
  • Complete annual required Relias education.
  • All other duties as assigned.

7.       Must be able to use a variety of communication devices including telephone, computer, written and verbal, and visual skills to effectively disseminate information. 

8.       Ability to supervise and evaluate staff.

9.       Ability to communicate effectively using verbal and written communication skills in multiple relationships with a variety of cultural and social backgrounds.

10.   The ability to use a variety of office and clinical machines requires the use of fine motor skills and 
precise hand/eye coordination.

11.   Work as a team with other Nursing Managers on tasks and projects.

12.   Other duties/projects as needed.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by Nebraska as a registered professional nurse. BSN preferred.

Licensure:

  • Current RN license recognized and accepted by the State of Nebraska without restrictions. NE license preferred.

Experience:

  • Management experience preferred. Current knowledge of nursing and 5 years recent nursing experience. Med-Surg, ER, and OB experience preferred.

Certifications: 

  • Current BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, NRP
