2-3 times a month on Mondays from 8-5pm, no holidays, no weekends.
Position Summary:
Experienced healthcare professional specializing in musculoskeletal care, providing comprehensive clinical and surgical support. Skilled in conducting patient histories, physical exams, and diagnosing conditions such as fractures, sprains, and arthritis. Proficient in ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests to develop effective non-operative treatment plans, including medications and physical therapy. Serves as first or second assist in surgeries, performing preoperative prep, wound closure, and postoperative care. Educates patients and families on procedures, recovery, and injury prevention. Maintains accurate electronic medical records and collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, high-quality care.
Job Duties:
- Clinical Care:
- Conduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations.
- Diagnose, treat, and manage musculoskeletal conditions, including fractures, sprains, arthritis, and other injuries.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as X-rays, MRIs, and lab work.
- Develop treatment plans, including prescribing medications, recommending physical therapy, or implementing non-operative management.
- Surgical Assistance:
- Serve as a first or second assist in surgical procedures, including preoperative preparation and postoperative care.
- Close wounds, apply casts, splints, or braces, and ensure surgical site integrity.
- Patient Education and Counseling.
- Provide pre- and post-operative education to patients and families.
- Counsel patients on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and ongoing care.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Document patient encounters in electronic medical records (EMR) accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Take part in quality/safety/ infection control improvement initiatives projects by observing/reporting/engaging/resolving any concerns or issues.
- Complete annual required Relias education.
- All of duties as assigned.
Experience:
- Previous orthopedic experience preferred but not required.
- Experience in surgical assisting is a plus.
- Willing to train the right candidate.
Education:
- Master’s degree from an accredited PA or NP program.
- Current licensure as a PA or NP
- National certification as a PA-C or NP (e.g., ANCC, AANP).
