Position Details:
Patient Care Technician - Dialysis
Full-time 30-40 hours/week, Day Shift
Schedule examples:
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 5am-5pm
- Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, 7am-4pm

Position Summary:
Trained in providing hemodialysis therapies to patients in chronic renal failure. Responsible for understanding, supporting, and implementing the policies and procedures set forth by Chadron Community Hospital and Health Services, the Dialysis Unit, State and Federal agencies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepares machines for treatments.
- Cleans, disinfects and rinses dialysis machines according to policy.
- Troubleshoots machine alarms as needed.
- Ability to calibrate and operate the Phoenix meter or Hydrometer.
- Check water system for chlorine.
- Monitor water system for problems.
- Initiates, monitors and discontinues dialysis treatments according to established policies and procedures.
- Performs dialysis access care according to policies and procedures.
- Responsible for administering Heparin, Lidocaine and Normal Saline as allowed by the facility’s policies and procedures.
- Documents clearly, completely and accurately all pertinent information on patient treatment record.
- Reports any significant information or change in patient condition to charge nurse.
- Stock supply cart and shelves.
- Perform any task as assigned by the charge nurse.
- Will wear PPE when appropriate.
- Confidentiality of patients, employees and financial aspects of facility.
- Adaptability and ability to work with others.
- Appropriate behavior, language and conversation.
- Flexibility to adjust to changing conditions and demands of the job.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- CPR Certification
- Successful completion of national certification testing for hemodialysis technicians or an acceptable equivalent as required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), preferred
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Ability to push, pull, mobilize, with assistance of wheels or carts, equipment up to approximately 200 lbs. (Example: dialysis machine)
- Must be able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
- Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time to provide patient care.
- Must have full range of body motion and flexibility.
- Must have the ability to climb, kneel, stoop and bend on a daily basis.
