Position Details:

Physical Therapy Tech

Rehabilitation Services Department providing physical therapy care at Legend Buttes Health Services in Crawford, Nebraska.

PRN/Casual, 0-19 hours a week, non-benefited. 

Job Summary:

The technician will work under the general and direct supervision of the physical therapists. This individual will provide receptionist, secretarial, clerical, and housekeeping duties for the department with minimal supervision or independently. This individual will assist physical therapists in selected procedures as necessary, and perform other duties as requested.

Job Duties: 

  •  Answering and managing calls to the department.
  • Schedule patient appointments and meetings for the staff.
  • Prepare and maintain patient charts.
  • Relay all patient charge slips, admission information, and chart materials to business office, medical records, and any other department as necessary.
  • Pick up, sort and distribute departmental mail.
  • Perform departmental cleaning and maintenance. This includes managing supplies, inventory, and ordering as necessary. 
  • Prepare and maintain patient care and treatment areas.
  • Take soiled laundry to the housekeeping department, bring clean laundry back to the department, sort and place in appropriate area.
  • Assist physical therapists and patients as needed in preparing for, during, and following treatments.
    • a.Provides specific treatment only as directed by the staff physical therapist. Adheres to standards of physical medicine practice for pediatric, adolescents, and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
    • b. Monitors vital signs, maintains adequate knowledge base regarding cardiovascular and respiratory precautions for the patient undergoing physical medicine services and treatments.
    • c.Communicates any changes in condition (physical or mental) to staff physical therapist, nursing and other facility personnel as appropriate.
    • d. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety.
    • e. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involve patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.  
  •  Adheres to department policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Good interpersonal skills, phone etiquette, typing, computer skills (work processing and spreadsheet, etc.). Must be able to read, write, spell, and speak English fluently.
  • Knowledge: Operation of office equipment, cleaning/disinfectant agents and methods, proper body mechanics for lifting/transferring patients. 
  • Abilities: Good communication skills with people from all ethnic and religious backgrounds and throughout all age ranges. Must be able to follow written and oral directions, be organized and efficient, be self-motivated, have neat appearance, and be enthusiastic, and have a positive attitude.
  • Previous Experience: None necessary, but previous experience with patient care is preferable..
