Registered Nurse Supervisor

Full-time, 30-40 hours/week, Permanent, Hourly, Benefited position, shifts vary. 

Position Summary: 

The Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor works under the direct supervision of the department manager. The RN Supervisor performs all duties associated with the role of a RN. The RN Supervisor utilizes critical thinking to plan and select appropriate interventions for patient care that result in the desired patient outcomes. The RN Supervisor demonstrates fiscal responsibility and expert clinical judgement to determine and adjust staffing levels while ensuring safe patient care. The RN Supervisor directs and accepts the responsibility for supervision of all personnel assigned on shift, as well as ongoing coaching and performance, including assisting with annual performance evaluations and employee corrective actions. The RN Supervisor works to identify and implement unit level process improvement and determine evidence based, best practice for the department. 

Primary Job Duties: 

  • Responsible and accountable for all duties of the registered nurse.
  • Demonstrates exceptional clinical skill providing patient care.
  • Contributes to a culture of safety for all patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Utilizes effective communication skills when interacting with all stakeholders.
  • Positive representative of Chadron Community Hospital both in the hospital and in community settings.
  • Ensures personal and staff behaviors are within defined CCH policies and procedures.
  • Assists with the orientation and education of staff and students.
  • Maintains current clinical knowledge and skills through in services, workshops, and/or seminars.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in adjusting to variable workload and job duties.
  • Works as a permanent charge nurse.
  • Provides leadership and oversight to nursing department staff while working as a charge nurse as well as participates in personnel matters for directly assigned department staff.
  • Identifies opportunities for departmental improvement, and with the approval of department manager, defines best practice. Participation in mandatory on-call.
  • Other tasks as necessary or assigned.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing Program.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. 

Licensure:

  • Current, unencumbered RN License in the State of Nebraska or a state with reciprocity.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience required.
  • Clinical proficiency in areas of M/S, Peds, ER and OB required.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
