November is Diabetes Awareness Month

November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and Chadron Community Hospital and Health Services is here to help you manage your diabetes, as well as offer awareness and education towards a healthy lifestyle. Diabetes affects 37.3 million Americans, more than 11% of the United States population. Some people are unaware they have diabetes or do not know the risk factors. Risk factors include age, weight, family history, and elevated fasting blood sugar. We offer a free Diabetes Prevention Class that is available to any person at risk or concerned about getting diabetes. This is a group class currently offered twice a year.
Chadron Hospital also offers education for those new to a diabetes diagnosis or those with diabetes needing a refresher to help get blood sugars back in control. This education is offered in a group or individual setting. Education is provided by a Registered Dietitian and a Physician Assistant in cooperation with your medical provider. For more information, please contact our Diabetes Education Department at (308) 432-0455.
