Job Summary:

Responsible for the evaluation, planning, directing, and administering of occupational therapy treatments as prescribed by a licensed physician.  Administer treatments and physical agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability.  Occupational therapists help clients develop, recover, or maintain daily living and working skills.  Occupational  therapists help clients not only improve their basic motor functions and reasoning abilities, but also to compensate for loss of function.  

Job Duties: 

  • Observes and evaluates treatment affect.  Recommends changes to physician, if needed.
  • Performs an appropriate assessment on each patient, as related to the therapy requested and provided with reassessments as needed.
  • Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; including family as appropriates.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency of occupational therapy modalities.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.  Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and families.
  • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.  Maintains department cleanliness and safety.
  • Interacts professionally with patient and family members and involves them in the formation of plan of care.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administration.
  • Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patient’s needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
  • Maintains records pertinent to the personnel and operation of the department.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized, and functions under stressful situations.
  • Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
  • Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care.

Education: 

  • Graduate of an AOTA accredited school of physical therapy or graduate of accredited college or university with a certificate in occupational therapy.
  • Current state occupational therapy licensure.  
  • Current BCLS (CPR/AED) certification.

  • Experienced, new graduates, current students graduating within one year welcome to apply.
